Challenge: Best of 2006 (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: New Paltz, NY
Date: May 17, 2006
Aperture: f3.5
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/8
Galleries: Abstract, Textures
Date Uploaded: Jan 5, 2007

I took this in the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY. I was looking up the staircase in the main lobby of the hotel. The camera was handheld. I processed the original raw file using CS2 Camera Raw. In CS2 I used the Velviavision plug-in to increase contrast, warm the color, increase saturation and add dynamic range. I also resized and cropped the image and used USM to sharpen and increase contrast.

This is such a cool image! Looks like one of those impossible drawings by Escher or the like, except in color. And what vivid color!

Excellent image. If I ever get to one of the conferences held at the Mohonk, I'll be looking for this.

That's awesome - very Escher-esque. I wonder what it would look like in BW, though the colors are beautiful. 8

That door on the ceiling makes me think this might be the mansion of that crazy gun lady. (I can't remember her name, Smith? Weston?) Am I right? Excellent shot with rich tones. 8

I really like this one - not liking the white on the ceilings of the top three floors on the right side, but probably not a whole hell of a lot you can do about that!8
