The Blue and Gold macaw was fairly close to the path on its perch. It was in the sunlight with the background of trees in shadow. The sunlight was hitting the eye just right and he was turning his head only every few seconds from position to position. I have several other shots where the head is at different angles facing the lens but this one I thought was strongest with the gleam in his eye and subtle areas of shadow behind the wrinkles of skin on his white face resulting in texture.
All PS CS2 changes were minute.

beautiful and sharp image of the bird. I'm not really sure if I like how tight it was cropped as the image seems too restricted and makes me focus too much on the imperfections of the subject. Either way, cool submission! Good luck.
