Initial Impressions: Wonderful photo that fits the challenge well with only a few minor quibbles.
Composition: I really like the overall composition here. The lines in one of the bananas to the other set of bananas really works. It helps engage your eye to the entire frame. The angle of the frame is near perfect. Not much I would change.
Technicals: Good sharpness. Great exposure, though the lighting seems to go to white to gray. Not sure if this was intentional. I think I would prefer a uniform background. Maybe not, depends on how the shadows work out. Lighting is subdued as far as impact but works really well.
Possible suggestions: I would perhaps see what a little more depth gives you, specifically the bottom left. Move out just a bit to get all of the banana bunch on the right and a bit on the top so it is not cut off. Maybe a little color highlight/contrast with the light brown on the ends of the banana? Just minor quibbles overall.
Overall: Great challenge entry. Both the composition and technicals are great with just a few minor nit picks. Great exposure and detail. Good use of filling the frame with good eye movement. A terrific picture. |

This is a great example of perfectly meeting the challenge - no question. I like the story too. The monochromatic subject is awesome and i wish I thought of something that good. I agree that a slightly different crop might have helped as well as possibly removing some of the extraneous color in the shadow area. I didn't vote but I would have gone 7 or 8 for sure. |

Nice one Teresa! I could not vote in this but I did look thru the pics. I saw this and just started laughing - how many times has this happened in our house! hehe
Good job! |

I would crop this one a little differently - either closer up, or not so close to the edge. 5 |

What a great subject to photograph for a still life: the colour and the texture of their skin is very interesting to look at. However, this is a very half-handed attempt: there is no interesting composition, no interesting background, the light is too even. Was this a product shot?.. 4 |

Great picture - good tonal balance and shadows. And I like the subject :)
Frittered
Those bananas on the table,
they wanted to be muffins,
they wanted to be bread,
for it'd sure beat bein' nuthin'
but fodder for the fruitflies,
slime oozing from their coats,
as whiffs of noisome ester
swim from limp banana boats.
But summer wouldn't grant it,
they toasted where they sat.
Brown Banana Betty blanched
as banana splits went splat.
The cornflakes never saw them.
The yogurt stayed pristine.
The peanutbutter sandwich
bore no pale yellow gleam.
So now their hides have blackened,
their innards overripe.
Their good I've sadly wasted.
Damn I'm glad it's garbage night. |

yup...you waited too long on that one! LOL..
could use a few more elements to suggest you wanted to make banana bread...maybe a little too title dependent. Photo quality is excellent...nice lighting. |

wow -never seen 'em that dark & we do eat a lot of banana bread 'round here...
nice exposure & lighting -- not terribly hot on the composition, but no advice either!

Actually, those are the best bananas to use for banana bread. I only use black bananas cause they give the whole ting that much more taste. Try it! ;) |
