 All adjustments (except the final resizing) done in Aperture--just some standard stuff: crop, rotate, sharpen, bumped up saturation, adjusted the luminance curve (like levels in PS). Any suggestions on how I could improve my post-processing are welcome.

Nature death grip on the iron fence appealed to me, particularly with the evergreen in the background.

Well spotted image. It's almost a pattern shot (rectangular fence posts versus the curves of the plant). A shade less depth of field to blur the backround greenery perhaps?
