Frozen Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Canada
Wanted it to look photojournalistic, but I know people are going to comment about the noise - I ADDED the noise, people.
Convert to B&W, increase contrast, add noise, burning to bring out details in foggy mountains, enhance glow from sun behind mountain, sharpen, straighten, crop. |

I have a hard time saying anything about this shot as I find it neither good or bad. Usually I like grain in black and white photos but here I think I would have liked it better if it were crispy clean and sharp. Also I don´t really find anything interesting in the frame to stop and gawk at. 5 from me. |

I love this photo - the contrast and composition are great, but the noise in the sky (maybe intentional?) takes my scoring down some. |

The colour of a cold death. |

Looks a lot like Lake Louise in the 1930s. I don't feel the grain adds a whole lot to this, other than making it look like an old grainy image |

Definitely harsh! Makes me cold just looking at it. |

A touch on the grainy side for my taste...

Now that's an impressive sight. |

Nice scene and I like the fogginess of the sky and the grain too. I think the shot overall is too dark in that most of the snow is a mid-tone grey. I imagine that's because lightening the whole image would cause blowout in the sunlit area of the sky but I think some selective adjustments to bring more white in would help. |

Very cool. Even though it looks like a basic snapshot with no use of expert editing...I still like it. Fits challenge well. I like the noise. I don't vote in challenges I've entered, or rarely do so - if I were voting this time around, I'd give your photo a 10. |

This is a great landscape, but the noise is a bit overpowering. |

Oh yeah. ..this is the best harsh environment photo I've seen yet! Beautifully done. And yet. . .that harsh environment is still so beautiful! |
