Shot RAW, converted to TIFF in Photomatix.
Opened TIFF in PSCS, adjusted levels and ran through NN.'
Cropped slightly and cloned out a white line in the water, and a little branch at the bottom right.
Created copy layer and converted to B/W, blurred, adjusted brightness, and blended in soft light. Flattened.
Adjusted colours selectively (increased red), then painted areas with the sponge tool to increase colour a bit (greens and reds). Desaturated whites to about 70%.
Resized, sharpened, saved for web.
As for "vision", there is none really. This is just a place I like to go to. It is almost inaccessible in winter, and, even though it looks so peaceful, the area can be very treacherous; it would be a harsh place to try to survive if one were stranded here. |

| I think if you would have aimed further right and just caught the edge of the outcrop and more of the lake it would have given you a better composition. |

Did you use HDR on this? It's one of the few shots in the challenge that I think use the new rules set to make something that works very well. You have awesome detail in the background that helps to frame the lightness of the foreground.

| The photo, to me, doesn't really convey much 'harshness' - it looks kinda peaceful. We had the option, yes, it was an option, to use expert editing and I see no evidence whatsoever of anything other then a snapshot - a good one though. |

| Ooooo, I really like this shot but kindof feel it, well, shoehorned into this challenge, well maybe it´s cause I have lived in Scandinavia all my life but this most definately is not a harsh environment to me. Eh, who cares, like the shot, gave it an 8, nice work. |
