Great image. I had expected and hoped that this would have scored higher. Well done though. |

Great shot.
I love the mother's expression, says an awful lot.
One of the best of the challenge for me. |

Fits the challenge certainly, think I would have voted this higher with better processing though, like with higher contrast and more desaturated or black and white but nice shot, 6 from me. |

Why does this one remind me of something I'd see in National Geographic? |

Regarding the photo and the photo only - it has nice focus and I like the lighting as well as the contrasting colors. To me it's a snapshot that doesn't seem very to have much of a harsh environment and there is no use of anything outside of basic editing. I was hoping for more. |

Wonderful shot. Very well captured and a harsh environment indeed. Tugs at my heart. Back to bump you up to 8. |

These types of shots that tell stories are the ones that should do well. Worthy of more than the 2 second look as they have an impact beyond the quick eye candy types of images. A great study and excellent interpretation of the challenge. I hope this does well for you. Bumping up to an 8 for now. |

I have always wondered how people get photos like this? Do you ask for their permission first? Do you pretend like you are taking a picture of something over their sholders? Do you just walk up, snap the picture, and run? |

This "photojournalism-style" image would do very well in black-and-white. |
