Challenge: Free Study XVI (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG for Nikon
Location: England
Date: Dec 26, 2006
Date Uploaded: Dec 26, 2006

This was actually shot in the daytime but I thought the mood at night is so much better so I darkened the whole shot using a black colour layer and used dodge burn to highlight certain areas, Im not expecting a super score but I am VERY happy with the result of this shot.

Very nice tones here! I also like the point of view that creates lots of leading lines.

this is very nice! I like the use of b&w, and long exposure. I love night-time shots. It could use a little bit of various level adjustments in certain dark parts of the picture.

I like the effect you are going for here. I think it really adds to the shots apeal. There is some effect however that feels overdone to me.

Black and white HDR? The post processing has given this an almost Victorian look - if it wasn't for the modern building and patio heater, that is. The lighting is super, and the scene does look very enticing - I want to open the door and find a roaring log fire, the requisite regulars propping up the bar, or perhaps having a game of dominos in the snug, and a landlord just about to pull me a pint of Tim Taylor's!

This is lovely work. Hope it's not overshadowed in the challenge by images with more superficial pop.

Rather unnatural effect - yet compelling. Neither a photo; nor a drawing. Something in between. 7.

The processing or light here is very strange - the patches of brightness seem to bear little relevance to the visible sources of light, and one would suspect that they're added in processing. That, and the odd levels of shadow versus highlights make overall, for me, for a very unappealing image - processing running out of control, rather than photography.

Interesting to me how this departs a warm glow despite being in black and white.

GREAT post editing. Nice line to the entire image. For some reason I want to pull back and see more.
