I don't know what kind of shell this is but I brought it with me from North Stradbroke Island, Australia.

As my camera can't focus in low light I first focussed with the light on. After that I turned the light off and used a small LED to bring some light to the shell. I played a little around with the framing and the LED and decided that this one was the best of all the pictures that I took. In PS I changed the colour of the shell from green to a more reddish tint.

I used a wide angle lens and two close-up lenses for the magnification and of course a tripod.

It's almost like this shell has a motion blur to it in a circular motion. I love the lighting and tones here. 9

The lighting shows off the graceful lines, three dimensional shape, and wonderful texture of this shell. The black background is perfect.

Perfect framing and forepart equilibrating very well the image. Sharp and well exposed, but I would have left the natural colors, where,I suppose, pearl shades would have been apparent.

Interesting lighting - my first thought was "what's that slash of light pink at the bottom" - it took me some moments to realise it was light coming from inside the shell opening.
