I took a picture of this gate earlier in the day to capture the pattern of the gate itself. Later, when I passed by, the sun was casting a shadow of that pattern on the pavers, which had their own pattern. The gate and arch in the distance are the same as the one in front, and I lined up the gates to create a pattern within the pattern. Unfortunately that is not very visible in this reduced size.
I think with advanced editing, I will be able to improve this image, and when viewed full size, or printed 8x10, it will be more effective. |

Julianne,
Is it just me, or is the pattern in that gate eerily similar to the pattern in the window I entered? Your photo is without doubt a lot stronger, though, and I'm surprised it didn't garner at least a 5.5. I'm trying to figure out why the relatively low score, and can only think it is due to voters looking for more repetition in pattern (and a slightly blown sky). I really like this, think it has good composition, and I like the business. Just goes to show you can't please 'em all, right? 7 from me.

pattern-wise I think you met the challenge very well, evern though it might be a little busy. I love the colors, they have a very summery feel to them. The only thing I would wish could have been have changed was the sky being blown out, but editing was basic so you really couldn't have done much about that. |

I like this shot but to me it just seems a bit busy. It's very colorful and well composed however. I gave this a 6. |

Lovely scene, but the pattern is not the "Star" |

Each pattern is fighting for attention, resulting in loss of focus. And the picture would be vastly improved if taken on a cloudy day. |

Be carefull when taking photos with sunlight. Often it is better to have a overcast sky. |

I would like to be able tos ee the brick paving pattern even where it is in the sunlight. And the over exposure above the gate is distracting. |
