Challenge: Pet Portrait II (Advanced Editing V*)
Collection: Animals-Domestic
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II/III USM
Location: Buchanan, VA
Date: Dec 9, 2006
Aperture: 1:9.0
ISO: 250
Shutter: 1/500 second
Galleries: Portraiture, Animals
Date Uploaded: Dec 12, 2006

This is a pomeranian that had been shorn like a lion. Cute little thing - he was at the Christmas parade this weekend in Buchanan and tried to act MUCH larger than he really was. He couldn't have weighed more than 8 pounds, but he was strutting what he had - HA!

Converted original JPG to 3 TIFFS with different exposure levels, then combined them into HDR image with Photomatix. PP included crop, Mr. Contrast filter, gothic glow action, Melancholytron filter, dodge/burn brush, levels/curves, transparency brush, add border, save for Web.

This is beautiful, Jimmy! Those incredibly rich colors and textures! I didn't finish voting in this challenge so I missed this one, but I sure would have rated it higher than 5.8!

Very cute shot. The vignetting looks good and the lighting is perfect. The focus and DOF are right on, and I like the catchlights in the eyes. Great job.

6 - Different. A bit too much pp/effects/something going on here in my opinion, especially for a fairly cursory look at while voting. Likely looks as you intended though, so your call, obviously.

Beautiful soft focus with sharp eyes. I'm only a little distracted by the thing on the left.
Very nice over all.

I am not sure on the post on this. The tail bothers me ... I guess the glow used could have been faded back a bit
