Roz - I can't take credit for that saying as I read it somewhere here on DPC a while back. I think it was Dr, Achoo, but I'm not positive...)

this one of yours should have done heaps better .... like i said during voting it was one of the best ... i gave it 10 ...
i've been quoting something that you put on a comment, which is ..."I'd trust the average DPC voter to spot a great a photo like I'd trust my 3yo to drive me cross country blindfolded" .. hope you dont mind me quoting you but its something i've thought myself on many occasions ... they do get it right as well tho ...
thanx for your comments on dog and sky challenges ...
i think my dog got wot it deserved! .. the sky too ...
the dog that should have gone in is on my profile page right now!

Thanks, MM - Yes, the intention of the image was the coal miner at home after a long day/night's work, possibly at the turn of the century with no power or just too poor to pay the bill... |

Easy there Pineapple. To me, the nice candle holder indicates that this miner was at home . Still, I understand about the safety lamps thing. |

Safety lamps are de rigeur in mines - especially soft rock methane bearing mines. So, as far as I am aware, this is an inaccurate title. The image is OK though. 7. |

I love the "real" look of working hands! Looks like my dad's hands after 50 years as a mechanic. Thanks for the peek at you work. |

I see by the nails that this is a pic of a person who works in the dirt. If not, then it's a darn good illusion. Simple and tasteful. |

Great idea and nice added touch of placing dirty older used candle in as well. |

Nicely done dealing with the low key portion of the shot. My LCD struggles to get the detail, but I can see it if I look sideways at the monitor. Nice composition and I appreciate the dirt under the nails. 7 |
