My sweet Elza.

Only light from windowW. She's too hyper to set up lighting and expect her to sit there and pose and not break anything. Hahaha!

I am sure there will be awesome photos in this challenge, so there will be many better than this, but I tried my best. Attempted a shallow DOF and focused on the eyes.

Converted from RAW. Levels and curves adjustment layers. overlay and soft light layers. Dodge and burned. Cloned out a sliver of green wall and lightened the background a bit. Saved for web.

This did really badly. I was trying to do something artsy with the focus because I saw all these selective focus images getting high scores. I am not a real fan of it, but maybe I could pull it off. No way! Guess a weed or a flower etc... is OK.

Anyway, I learned again and thank you for your comments and help.

This isn't a bad photo, it is quite good for any other standard outside DP. The problem is it really hits the mediocracy plane. The spot focus too, may turn voters away. The nose is out of focus, and then the body, both of which are distracting. It is also heavy to one side with light, which in itself is ok I think, but half of the nose is lost, and then his right eye is also lost.

Like the expression on the dogs face. I know it took patience. The crisp focus on the eyes draws you in. Especially with the soft focus all around. Great portrait.

Great composition and lighting. The expression is so kind. My only suggestion is a little deeper DOF so the whole face is in focus.

5 - Too tightly cropped in my opinion and too much blur and oof areas. The lighting is very nice on the dog's right eye, but more use of that lighting plus a little sharper on both make this better in my opinion.

Beautiful dog. A little too dark in the face, and soft on some of the edges.

A little dark and personally I prefer the nose in focus from this angle.
