Thanks for your votes, everyone. This is my best finish so far, and I'm really pleased. The first shot I took (with the date set to 2005) had a better expression on the dog's face, and the arrangement of the lights looked more natural, but this is the best one I could get once I had the date set right. And I had a problem (since fixed) with pictures uploaded to DPC being much darker than what I see on my monitor. So, considering those things, I think 22nd is great!
This is definitely going to be my Christmas card next year! |

6 - Like this, but a few tweaks could have given it an edge in my opinion. Examples: variation in background color and lighting, more refined crop, especially at the bottom and less grain/noise. |

A nice change from a Santa hat. I gave this a 9 instead of a 10 because there is not enough detail in the eyes. |

Poor baby, with those lights on him. He is so sweet looking. This has a nice composition and clarity to the overall photo. |

That is probably one HUGE dog huh? A good look on his face and a funny idea. The thing that bothers me with this image thoug his the background. It almost feels like you cut and pasted him in. The color and darkness dont really seem to be a good match with the dog. |

Patient dog you have there! Lighting (not the Christmas ones) is a little uneven on the face. |

Very cute portrait. I like how the christmas lights are adorned around the dog (a Great Dane I think, not sure) like he/she is an ornament or mayhap has been playing mischief and gotten tangled in the lights. The only critique I have is that the right side of the dog's face is not as illuminated as the left side. The left eye is far more visible than the right eye. It would improve the shot greatly if we could see both of the dog's lovely eyes because in portraits that is one area where expressions are captured. |
