dirt?

These things are indestructable here in Florida. There's one big as a car in my yard.
I don't know what to say about the picture. It seems to have no story to tell. The whole frame seems busy, but not tugging my attention to any one point. I shot a lot of pics like this, and for a long time. I do get one that redeems the rest once in a while though. Keep clicking away and the magic pictures will happen someday without you even realizing it.

Lighting is a bit harsh and the angle isn't interesting to me.

While most of the pictures have dirt/soil/earth or some such in them, which has been made to look like something else by the post processing, this has (nearly) no dirt at all. I wonder what's best.

The flash is really harsh. The composition is lacking. Maybe if you had a lower angle showing some of the dirt it would have been more interesting. I think the color version would have been nicer as well.

Busy and uninteresting composition. On camera flash is pretty much ALWAYS a no-no. There is no obvious dirt, but I do understand what your point is (title based). Overall, this image feels like it was "shoe-horned" into the competition for sake of having an entry. - 3

B&W just doesn't seem to fit with this image, and I would have shot with with a shallower dof, and recomposed to highlight a particular spot on the plant, as I really am not sure what the focus of this picture is.

Well, a lot of shots are suffering from not having a real subject for the eye to rest on. This is like that. It also doesn't have a whole lot of dirt and is a bit OOF at the top. 3
