 When this challenge was announced, my first thought was to try and take a shot of the rich red soil, we have here, in Queensland, which ths sugercane grows in.

My side of the Sunshiune Coast doesn't have many sugercane fields, so I asked Peter to drive me up to Eumundi/Coolum area where this was taken.

We got there in the late afternoon, just before the sun went down. A soft pinkish glow was in the sky, overlooking the rich red cane fields, which I liked very much. The sugarcane is in its early stages of growth.

Yes, I can vouch that the soil is this rich red color.....

I am not particularly keen on your post-processing. The canes actually change colour as they hit the horizon, and the horizon itself seems tobe showing signs of chromatic abberation. I suspect that you have boosted the contrast level a great deal - personally I would have prferred a more subtle approach.

Way to go making "dirt" look so appealing :) This takes me back to my childhood where a huge sugar cane farm was right behind our house when we lived in Germany. I love the deep rich colors.

I really like the colors in this one... it looks like you "pushed" the purple hues in the sky though and it appears a little blocky in the end. Overall, good shot. - 6

This is a beautiful shot. The only thing I don't like is the grass in front. I think it really detracts from it. The leading lines are great. 8

It has dirt in it, but it doesn't really say "dirt". It is also not a very interesting picture, and the sky looks really fakey. You could edit out the dust-bunnies in the sky to the top right. ~4

I think I would like this better without the sky. The field, ridges, red dirt, and sprouts are great.
