Living in pulp wood country, the smell of fresh cut wood is common. The texture and pattern, especially as seen in the early evening hours, is inviting

Nice shot and good subject. There should be no comments this week about your entry not fitting the challenge. It's obviously exactly what your title suggests. =7 syamjonimi

I would have cut the bottom of the picture to keep only the pieces of wood, I like the wood textures

I really don't like to see the challenge name (new) used as part of the title... too cliche, or something... unimaginative! Get out your thesaurus! Detail on the lumber is good, focus and clarity is good, but new lumber is just kind of... bland, maybe? Needs something to break it up, to add interest.

One of my favorites and yet I couldn't help but feel that something was missing. I'm not sure what and yet I think with a small addition, it could have been an award winner.

I worked in a lumber yard and this picture smells really really good to me. I think it could have been better if the boards were all the same width, better visual impact expecially since the 2X2's (which aren't technically 2X2) are pretty much the same size and create an even vertical spacing. However, I know that has absolutely nothing to do with you, or the quality of your photo, which is very nice. It if were physically possible, you could try to crop the bottom dark boards off and show only the new ones. It kind of gets a blurred look to the bottom left. Smell definately portrays new very nicely and although I can't physically smell your photo, it's still stuck in my nose. Great idea! Good luck with the challenge.

I had an almost identical shot - glad I didn't use it! I like the angles and the areas of light and dark. Your shot is definitely better than mine. lhall
