| I would agree with the realism, but the pills are spilled all over! Not only do I find someone carefully setting the bottle down implausible, it has no artful purpose other than remind me of so many other types of art that have annoying cliches in them. Bad. negative 10 |

too bad you were screwed by all the people who voted you a 1 just because it was graphic and shows violence. you should have done so much better. if you don't take a picture of something warm and fuzzy you pay the price (like my shot this week is paying).
i wouldn't be discouraged by your finish. you got a whole lot of 8-10s. |

| Very powerful image. Focus is excellent, image has a lot to see and all of it culminates in a feeling of desperation, loneliness, sadness and pain. Title really sets the piece up. Color is good, I like the sort of washed out look (was this desaturated?) makes the arm look dead. A gutsy image to make - I really like the 'blood' drop. A disturbing but fantastic image. 10 |

| Some may not like this picture and it may not end very high in the total ranking. However I think you have taken a great photo which matches the challenge perfectly. The DOF and the cold colours (like the grey skin and the white from the bathroom) make this picture more than average. (7) |

| very powerful shot...almost hard to look at...blood looks very realistic. Definately sends a feeling of loneliness and despair. I hope you are not receiving to many negative comments on this one...although I do find it hard to look at for an extended period of time due to its graphic nature, it is a very compelling photo. I give it a 10. |

I like the dripping blood, specially where it hangs down of the finger.
But why take pills and alcohol when you are cutting your pulse anyway. |

Good job setting the mood. Framed well and focused well. And that's what I score on. The following part is just gabbing and does not reflect on your score.
Technical: the blood on the left side of the hand shouldn't be there, however it could be running down the thumb path and the puddle is good. With something as shocking as this, sometimes a more subtle approach can create more of a wow reaction. The puddle, the drip and the bottom thumb blood would have been enough to tell the story. And maybe a splatter on the perfect white pills.
And a question. What do you feel you have gained by desaturating part of the image? I ask this in a earnest manner. What I see is a pill bottle that looks unnaturaly molty, skin that is molty but not in a way that suggests death. And this detracts more than adds impact. |

| Talk about suicide certainty! Death by mulitiple sources. Cool idea...gruesome as well. Though I think the point of dying in the bathtub is for the sake of a easier clean up by those left behind....and this aint clean! :) I would imagine your being a bit slammed by this though....it makes people sense or feel something they find uncomfortable...usually equates into a lot of 1's. But thats the beauty of this shot. Good luck |

I definitely feel depression from this photo, but not so much all alone. However, I'm not gonna rate this based on that.
On the good side, you have a nice drop coming down and a good angle on the subject.
Things to improve upon: glare on the wine bottle, the wine bottle stands upright while the meds have spilled, the 'blood' doesn't look like it's flowed naturally, and the shadow from the flash (perhaps use some side lighting or reflectors).
Overall, good idea and decent execution. |
