 I guess some might consider this to be in the wrong challenge since it portrays a place where three people died. And I guess that some people will get all huffy because of the subject matter. And I guess my score will suffer and some comments could be rude. Fooey on all of them cause this pic rocks for me on multiple levels.

Yes, Christ died on the cross but only to come back 3 days later. This is a symbol of the price paid by the only one who had the currency to pay, to give those who accept his gift everlasting life in fellowship with Him and His Father. There is no remnant of death in this image. Only everlasting life.

The image was shot in my bedroom using my woody entry cross and two others stuck in green florist foam on an end table with black velvet laid on top of the foam. One table lamp was angled up from under the table against the brown wall to get the proper lighting.

PP - From RAW - shadow/highlight contrast, saturation, color temp adjustment, sharpness and various noise tweaks. In PS - crop, levels, hue/sat adjustment, selective color adjustments, NI, USM, resize and border.

There's a starkness and simplicity about this that is really satisfying and quite peaceful. The colours really don't hurt it either.

Beautiful, simple composition with strong colours. Death is part of life, so IMO this is a good illustration of the subject of this competition. The crosses are well-positioned off-centre, indicating a triangle reaching both down into the ground and up into the sky. Very effective.

There is a simple beauty to this that I love. My 10 comes not from the content (which I greatly appreciate) but the composition, lighting and framing. You did an excellent job and I hope other voters (that don't like the content) will see past that and vote on the photo itself.

Very clean image and fantastic colors. The bluryness amid the crosses is distracting for me. I don't personally care for the message but that has nothing to do with the capture.

I posted something similar and have received some negative comment because of the subject matter. Rest assured, my vote is not influenced by the subject matter.

Love the rich tones in this shot and the stark simplicity. I hope you can put some words together explaining what it is and how you achieved this look.

There are a lot who will vote this down simply because it is religious. I think it is a pretty photo but before I even looked at one life or death photo I had already decided to to add 3 points to whatever the score would have been if it had a religious theme (in order to offset those who vote it down just for the same reason).
