 One of a series of candid shots I snatched at the Mehane Yehuda market in downtown Jerusalem. It was pretty late in the evening, so thank G-d for reasonably bright artificial lights and my 50mm f/1.8 lens :).

Well, I said I would eat his hat if this didn't make the Top 20. No one's gonna hold me to that I hope. I thought this photo may have been taken in New York, you see, but here's the thing: I just don't have the funds to go tracking this guy down in Israel and besides, he probably likes his hat.

Good candid portrait, although outside of the light I don't find it very absorbing. It seems a very disengaged image - we're not close enough, not involved enough (in fact, the activity perhaps is just too ordinary) to be completely drawn in - and also there's nothing, compositionally, to add punch or fascination. Still has its strong points - detail, colour, light etc.
