 Long live the king! I was going to submit this in color, with blood and all, but unfortunately ketchup turned out to be more pale orange-y than blood red. And I have nothing else that looks like blood.... except for my own blood! And I really don't need to win THAT badly...

Dark, mysterious, the pieces seem to take on a life of their own. You've incorporated a diagonal line very cleverly.
