Not sure what my daughter was thinking, but she was sitting in the living room all by herself and looking very serious. I was able to snap this just before she looked up and smiled.

The color version of this just doesn't have the same impact. Converted to B&W via Channel Mixer and then added a little noise.

What a sweet face. Great use of black & white, the lighting is great. The child does look rather pensive, though I'm not sure I get a solitude or loneliness vibe. That said, it certainly fits the general feel of 'all alone'. The focus is good, though it sems to be centered on the hair just off the temple to the right - would rather it was on her face. Other than that, I have no complaints. A beautiful photo. 8

Nice expression, indeed, even though it doesn't give me a feeling of solitude: he looks to be more bored than lonely... Dof is probably a little too shallow. I do not agree with the tight crop on the top of his head and with the central position of the subject. The background looks quite distarcting, too.

Pos .. Very moody, its great for this challenge. The composition is good. B&W is good .. but I think just a *hint* of neutral tones would work beautifully here.

Neg .. a little grainy, although I'm not too sure if thats a good or bad thing... not "completely" in focus but then again the soft touch is also nice. I'm partial on the negatives!! Great job :)
