 I started off taking pictures of various colored plates stacked to make off-center sections of circles. Then I tried it with our good china, which has spirals on it. So-so results.

Then the next day my wife was using parchment paper to make meringue cookies and I noticed this scrap curling up. Huh. That's white!

It took a few arrangements of the lights; one outtake had a very nice look to it, but the background was darker than the paper, and I figured people would tell me that didn't meet the challenge. I finally wound up pointing all three clamp lamps at the white posterboard background.

Then came hours of fiddling. Man, where does the time go? After adding many different adjustments and removing them, I finally ended up with just two: brightness to drive the background to pure white and a yellow color layer to add a little interest.

I really like how the back edge is blurred while the front edge is crisp. It drives my eye to the sharp point.

Something about the way the paper is trying to touch back to itself, without quite making it, gave me the title.

I like this one a lot - the sweep to the curve and finally the curl ending in the sharp point. Interesting how difficult it is to make something so seemingly simple. Beautiful.

I think you did a great job of executing a difficult shot. To me, it has just the right DOF, lighting, and composition. The title really works as well. Great job!
