Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: The Year You Were Born (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D50
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ED
Location: Office/Workroom - Kokomo, Indiana
Date: Nov 19, 2006
Aperture: 6.3
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/10
Date Uploaded: Nov 20, 2006

Initial processing in RawShooter (including minor exposure compensation, some contrast tweaks, noise suppression, and sharpness), crop and exported in Picasa.

I attempted to light the scene in such a way that the feeling of darkness closing in would be transmitted. 1972 was a time of victory for Nixon, as symbolized in the photograph used for backdrop, but the seeds of his political destruction were already sown...

Nice idea and pretty good execution. Slightly simpler would be better, eliminate one of the locks and a few of the tools.

Good use of iconography. Composition is well balanced and flows well. You did a good job tieing the colors together. 7

I usually don't like the composite item type images, but you've done an excellent job of assembling items together that share a story and bring back an era. The title even adds to the image, providing the sinister feel. The technicals kept this from being a top contender for me, as there are some bad reflections and a feeling that this should be sharper to accentuate the tools. 6

It's just a picture of a pictu. . . .oh. OH! Cool idea! :)

Seriously, it took me a minute to get it, but I like this idea a lot.

Wow, you got it all...This is one of those photos that normally would be way too busy but in this case is perfect. Good job with arranging it. It would have taken me hours and hours to do that and it still wouldn't have worked. The red dress is balanced by the whatever-it-is, framing, colors, etc..

Took me a sec to figure out the relevance of the locks and lockpicking tools ;-) Interesting compilation; think the lighting and DOF could be improved and maybe hide more of the crowd in the photo as they make it even busier.
