Won't get a good score and I'm fine with that... but if I get any "why would anyone submit this" or "hope you were going for the brown" comments I think I will go insane.

post-challenge response to IreneM:

Thanks for your comment. I was bracing for bad comments (see above) but didn't get them. Comments like yours, nicely worded, were wonderful. :-) I entered it for two reasons. The first was that I know that perspective is usually the lines / vanishing point / etc ideas but I did see in previous perspective challenges that some included the meaning "seeing an object in a way / position you don't normally see it". I wanted to go with that definition even though I knew from the get-go it wouldn't be a good idea score-wise. Secondly (and I would NOT have used this reason if it had been my only reason) I wanted to play on the whole "perspective is a different way of understanding things" idea. A small drop of blood is not anything to think twice about for most people but for a hemophiliac it might be another matter altogether.

Again thanks for the comment - and that goes for everyone who commented.

Both of your reasons for entering it are sound, and people need to widen their view of the term "perspective." :)

No - this was just a random cut I decided to photograph. Well actually not really a cut; I was picking at my skin. Oops! The spoons theory is due to my fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue.

hmmmmmmmm .....

CONGRATS ON THE BROWN RIBBON ........
to get a brown ribbon is probably a lot more difficult than a blue!!
is the subject of this photo the reason for the spoons theory on your profile page??

Kelly, you're a thinker. There should be more like you here. For the most part, unfortunately, you have to smack the voters over the head with your message. Had I voted in this challenge, I'd have given you a 5. Not because I didn't get it (I do), or thought it dnmc (it isn't), but purely from a technical point for the focus and lighting. I dare say, if the focus was better and the light wasn't so harsh, your score would have looked a little healthier.

But at the end of the day, I suspect you're not terribly fixated on scores or wanting to sell your soul to the dpc hype :) So always do what YOU want to do.

Hi Kelly,
Strangely enough (or perhaps not strangely enough) I can understand your reasons perfectly - and I definitely understand the need sometimes to do something "different", which is always a risky thing to do here.
Your shot can do do well - or not...
One thing's for sure - I stared at your shot for the longest time trying to work out why. It's great that you took the time to explain.
