Gina my model...
I know this will not do well, probably it will be my lowest score ever, I know it is not "DPC friendly" (I`ts lacking of over saturation, over sharpening, a beautifull landscape, a beautifull model... butterflies and flowers... well) and I know I will have to validate the image... (but for as long as I know, everything I did is legal... lots and lots of hue-saturation adjustment layers... levels and contrast)....
BUT... knowing all that, I am submiting it because I loved it! I can look at it and it makes me smile... So thats all...

so you knew it wouldn't do well...yet you entered it anyway. hm. didn't we talk about this? :) and it has nothing to do with it not being over-saturated, a beautiful landscape, blah blah blah. There are plenty of examples of out of the box photos on DP that score well, so don't blame it on that.

the fact is it's a technically mediocre photograph with an atrocious border. The concept and the crop are excellent, but the blown highlights in the hat and her tongue, mixed with the marginal focus is what resulted in the poor score.

it's a great keepsake and worth a thousand smiles, but the score was about what it deserved.

something goofy happened with either the crop or the border too...not sure what made that 1 pixel line of red show up at the bottom.

either way...you said you wanted honest, so there's my honest :D

I don't usually like borders but this one works- breaks up the stark background.

I really like the idea and colors. The whites look a bit blown and focus a bit fuzzy.

lighting is flat and harsh ... also not very sharp ...

Funny idea, but the purple border really kills it for me. I think I'd rather see it in black and white with intense contrast. I like the diagonal line of the brim and the use of negative space. It could work as a high key shot, since the lighting on the upper part is already blown out.

Funny and purple. Focus is off slightly but it doesn't matter beacuse its purple. ;-) Good luck!
