This is my son Skylar's trained fish. We worked for a solid week to perfect this act.
Actually, I had promised Skylar for several months that he could have a fish, so what better time to go out and get one WITH SPOTS! Have you ever tried to work with a 3 year old AND a fish? Neither were very cooperative, but when I bribed Skylar with chocolate, he agreed he would do a few shots. Since the fish kept swimming to the other side of the bowl, I knew I wouldn't be able to capture both fish and boy the way I wanted to. Plan B kicked in: I took a picture of just "Fishy" (Skylar picked the name) and printed and cut it out. It was attached to the side of the bowl with a thin wire. The hoop is a small embroidery hoop.
(Edit after the challenge) What I learned - I should have used a WHITE background (that is the true color of the wall), as viewers thought I had too much yellow cast.
Post-processing in PS: adjustments in brightness/contrast, saturation/hues, sharpen, cloned out a few dust spots, reduced file size, neat image, added a border, a little unsharp mask, saved for web.

Good Idea, but... exposure is bad, dark yellow. I think if you back light it and put the child in a solid shirt. Bring out the spot's in the fish. |

would have looked better if you faked a splash in the bowl...which also looks way too small for a fish of that size. however, that expression is pretty great...looks like the fish is about to jump right into his mouth :) |

Darn cute picture, but not enough emphasis on the spots. |
