Nice contrasts via color. I like the sharp lines and angles in the image. Lighting is good, as is focus though I wish the black chess piece was a little sharper. Fits the challenge generally but I don't get a feeling of solitude or loneliness. A good solid image. 5 |

Hmmm this chess position seems familiar to me somehow. Good use of focus & lighting too if I may say so! |

I really enjoy the feel of this photo. You use the colors ver effectively here. |

I was trying something similar, yours looks better but I don't like the red background. |

The figure actually looks like he is laughing. Red is brilliant. I like that contrasting with the black and white. |

I like the composition, but for me the red background is to distracting. It draws too much of my attention. |

An interesting composition and good use of reflections. Critiques: The background is grainy and the black king is facing the wrong way. I see why you did it, but it just looks strange that the chess piece has his back to the opponent. |

The white pieces being a little and then a lot out of focus is distracting... a narrower DOF would have been nice here (I know, depends on the camera...). The relections are also distracting... they should either be highlighted as a part of the pic, or reduced in some way. |
