This is me and my Sweetie (Timfythetoo). We had a church retreat this weekend at a lodge on a lake in Deer Creek, OH. Our first night alone (without kids) in three years! This is my first attempt at a long exposure shot. Not particularly great but I thought the umbrella colors looked cool. Thanks for spinning it Sweetie. I know the umbrella doesn't make sense since it's not raining but hey, it's art (sort of)!

Shot in Raw, curves, levels, hue/saturation, brightness/contrast, selective colors, burning, dodging, minor cloning, blur, crop, neat image, unsharp mask, stroke, save for web.

folks DO use umbrellas when it's not raining! UV protection..lol

This shot really makes me chuckle and is very emotive to me:
1. YEAH on church camp!!!!!!! God's always a good thing
2. Send the kiddies my way...you guys need sitter!
3. giggles and smiles at thought of him spinning umbrella and you laughing as you BOTH count seconds left in exposure...lol hopefully looking/being with you he forgot to keep spinning at some point :-)

lovely image!

Three years! dang, girlfriend, you gotta work on that. :) Though I understand completely. My husband and I have had one night in, oh, 3 or 4 years, I think . ..

Anyway, I love the colors and composition in this shot. You did well, and this is a cool idea.

Great work!

I loved this pic! I'm one of your 9's and this was third in my ranking. I'm surprised it didn't take a higher score. The colors are great and i love the rasied heel with the lake reflecting behind it! You should be proud of this one!

i think this is quite good. The background of the lake shore, I'd remove it for your own pleasure, and make a natural fade from water to sky... that would top it off.

Very nice. Most of the others in this challenge are total crap!! I just want to thank you for originality. You are receiving the only 10 I'm giving in this challenge. Keep it up.

This is a really creative take on the spinning umbrella idea - really lends itself to wonder what's going on behind the umbrella! Unfortunately, the umbrella is a little too bright and saturated, I think. The real impact of the shot comes from the viewer peeking into a private moment, not the umbrella spinning. I also don't see the need for all the negative space on the right side of the frame, it adds nothing to the shot. A closer crop will increase the intimate feel of the shot, which I believe is what you were going for to begin with. Overall this is a great shot, so it gets a great score! :) Good luck in the challenge.

I'm not sure where the orange light is coming from but it makes this picture rule! Beautiful composition, framing and color. I'm not sure if this is a long exposure but nevertheless wonderfully done! This one deserves a ribbon IMO!
