Post Challenge:

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. Yes I know, I know, the foot. I was actually not planning on a full body shot but when I loaded it on the computer I like it better fuller than closing in on the mask so I left it. I usualy hate chopping limbs off to.

Tried this out to see the mask with a social dynamic... masked communication.

Did you happen to get the title from the movie "the Mask", where JIm Carrey is quoting the shrink from TV in front of his mirror? Random question I know.

Well, I'm glad this finished so strong, with such a great score -- but I was sure this would ribbon -- and still think it should have! What excellent photography here!

The lovely mask imparts its sad and pensive state, but the lighting is super good and rounds out the image very well. Bump.

I've come back to this a zillion times. The lighting is really good. Something about the crop and the foot. I'm being picky, so no cuts for that. I feel like I'm missing something and I don't know what. Technically, good. 7

I love the post processing, expecially on the mask. too bad you miss a bit of your foot. a square crop would've been striking too I think.

Ok. . .I'm almost done voting, and this is one of only 2 that I've seen so far that scream "RIBBON" the minute it popped up on my screen! This is exquisite! Beautiful lighting. Beautiful focus. Flawless in every way! 10

Excellent Work! I believe one of the most difficult challenges of shooting for a self portrait contest, would be to get the audience to relate to a total stranger in a positive way. I think you have accomplished that quite well here. Nice skin tones, great job of dropping clutter from the shot with the black background. My only suggestion to improve the composition would be to keep the focus sharp all the way down to the feet, or remove them from the shot all together. All-in-all, it's really a great shot.
It scores a 9 from me.
