 The idea for this came right after I went to bed. Next morning I photographed one of my wrist watches, had to have light numbers and dark background. My nightmare started when PSCS started hanging on the intro screen. It kicked in and I was able to warp the clock and print the clock. Then PS dragged and came to a standstill. Reinstalled it to no avail. No real time to hack so I called Adobe and they asked me to call weekdays for help. I solved the problem just before the challenge ended so I was unable to utilize it.

My next move was to reinstall an old copy of Elements and this meant shooting my image in JPEG and to forego the finer points of the image. These consisted of a d.e. wherein the clock gets 9/10th of the time to show definition of feautures in a subdued manner. The tools in cs are needed to complete the image and so I abandoned the d.e. I had hopes of producing a very fine image because the possibilities are increased when you are dealing with 1,2 and 8 zone values. I could have even brought some parts of the shadows to the 3rd zone. This would have added to the eerie title.

You do your best and so this image is done totally in Elements with deftly cloning to complete the transition. All the while I was shook up because you pay all this money and then the program fails and Adobe wants you to wait until weekdays to access tech support. After the hectic completion of the image, yes, 10:30 pm, went back to tackle the PSCS problem and did a routine reinstalltion after renaming the preference file which was the culprit. Finished at 11:50 and too late to reopen the image and what for? I would have loved the raw.

Hey Daniel... I almost feel like apologizing on behalf of the universe for the placement here. 11th of course is very good and congrats but based on sheer talent and visual pleasure on so many levels, this in my opinion deserved to place in the top .01% of all time dpc portrait entries. It's totally humbling to see what you can pull off even when you're handicapped... ;)

Very cool idea. I think the transition from face to clock is a bit harsh... I would have left a little more opacity in the face so that it showed through the clock a little bit to give more of an 'overlay' feel instead of a 'replacement' feel.

I always thought it was warped but I could easily be wrong. This is excellent, esp. that you managed to get the double exposed part to mimick the contours of the face.
