I don't care for the framing in this one: person on left is chopped in half, background too busy. It is a nice idea for this challenge, though. |

Background distracting, half a person at the left, head of main person missing, and distracting background (wallpaper, doorframes etc). Sorry. |

A couple of suggestions that I think would help this picture (though its focus and lighting are right on, I believe): Focus only on the cake or only on the one guy (maybe by moving to the left a little). I think the major distraction is the guy on the far left, though I do think his facial expression is humorous. karmat |

Good choice of subject - I was expecting more of these but I think yours is the only one. |

funny, but there's nothing remarkable about this shot. it's very plain. |

Very loose challenge connection, I see it, but I don't believe it. Nice photo of the YOUNG man's birthday blow (I'm not THAT old, but he's a KID)! Nice color/focus! 6 Swash |

This photo does not say "Something Old" to me. "Age", yes, but not old. I do not find the composition of the shot to be engaging - perhaps a tight shot of him with his face very close to the cake would have given the shot a better focus on the subject. lhall |

Think of the nicest way to say this is crap and then repeat it to yourself a few times. Yes the guy is older, but he's really not that old. I counted about 21 candles on that cake. This would probably be better in "Something New" than something old. -Chariot |

Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject. Composition - ok Technical Aspects - good Meets Challenge - not really Visual Impact / Originality - low

I'm being very frank in my comments - not to offend. This photo is for the family photo album - not much for 'photography'. I do like the idea and how he's blowing out the candles, but the flash is harmful for this photo. Although there isn't a lot of post-processing aloud here, there is still a lot that can be done. I think the main flaw is the flash/lighting. Also, try different angles. This is only my opinion - take it as you will. Keep working though. 4 Ruthann |

This is a nice snapshot. :-) The guy on the left's lower face in the photo doesn't add anything, in my opinion. |

This picture has a snapshot quality to it and it only meets the challenge because you say so with the title. I like the expression on the guy's face and better composition and better cropping would have lifted this out of the snapshot realm. |

This is a nice family album photo but it doesn't show me anything 'old' for the challenge... - jmsetzler |
