 I used the on-camera flash to even out the shadows on her face a bit, as the sun was casting a few harsh shadows.
I tried to integrate the barbed wire somewhat into the image, though I'm not sure if I succeeded.

Post processing:
Levels - darkened the image more and increased contrast
Channel Mixer - to convert to black and white
resize etc.

I like this photo. The only problem I have is the background does not separate itself well from the subject. I would have liked it more out of focus to set off the subject - and possibly a little more light on the face to bring out the expression.

There's something weird about how her head is sort of just stuck there in the bottom corner. Maybe it's how it's framed by the fence post and barbed wire? I kind of like the soft focus on her, though.
