I've seen examples of this here and at Pbase and wanted to give it a shot. I'm not happy with the lack of sharpness in the smoke. I will try again sometime...

Raw conversion, levels, rotate, crop, noise ninja, resize, sharpen, save for web. I predict a 5.7 for this challenge.

interesting idea, though a bit noisy looking as far as the smoke is concerned

Very interesting and good definition. As a possibility I would have considered placing the matches on a horizontal position, light them and blow them out. The rotate the image which would give the illusion of the wind sweeping across, that is, the smoke. Regardless, a very nice image. 7

A bit of a stretch (still smoke, no flame) but very well done with the colors, clarity, and composition -- one of my favorites this challenge

this is the best dpc match photo yet, which isn't saying much, but this does have a poignant feeling to it. 7

Nice shot but don't see how it displays wind. The smoke seems to undisterburbed as it is going straight up. Movement one way or the other of the smoke would have worked better for the challenge.

The only thing undermining your title and intended impression that the flames did not withstand the wind is the smoke is rising straight up. Were there a breeze, one might expect the smoke to follow with it. The clarity and detail on the match heads make them quite intriguing and I like the composition.

This made me smile a lot - always a good thing. Composition is excellent, and I know how hard taking photos of smoke is. Good job!

This is a cool picture, but to me it shows a lack of wind since the smoke's going straight up.

nice idea & different to all the others (so far) like it

A slight breeze to move the smoke could have sold this better IMO. As is, it's all tied to the title and doesn't illustrate wind directly. Nice job on exposing for the smoke, it has an interesting color cast to it near the top.

Heat rises, but I guess that is a function of wind. The capture is nice. I like the dark blue going with the gray.

Another invisible wind result here, and yes, this works for me.....

I like this one very much. Gets my 10.
