Not a great fan of prairie landscape but the first snow of the season seemed to create some interesting views...

- Forced for +1 stop to account for snow. Should have used something like 1.5 to 2 stop I guess but did some more justification by levels in photoshop.
- Just slight levels and curves adjustment to increase the contrast and cropped the image slightly.
- Converted to grey scale by channel mixer. Some more fiddling with levels and curves to assign snow to pure white and increase contrast.
- Resized to 640 pixels and saved for web.

Thanks for the comments... However, I don't necessarily agree with some of them, but totally respect your views. Nothing much to say for the person who gave a 0 for overall opinion, a 2 for meeting the challenge (thanks!) and a bunch of 1's though.

Anyways, this was an abstractish approach, so I was not expecting a very high point. Actually, I'm impressed with a point higher than 5. Well, I was not very happy with a couple of things myself, so I'll edit it again based on some of the comments and put a print of it in my office.

Back to comment: I suspect you forgot to sharpen after down sizing this image for the challenge. This image would also benefit from a little post processing work with levels or curves to boost the detail in the hay bales. With levels, I would suggest dropping the gamma (the middle slider) and then boosting the brightness and contrast.

There's a quiet serenity to this that I really like. Nice in black and white. 6

This came out really stylistically: almost looks abstract...intriguing: I like the play between the verticals and the spirals and circles in the hay bales

Nice high contrast shot. A little more detail in the snow and the sky might improve this, but I like the stark nature of it as it is.

This is a bit too overexposed for my tastes
