Challenge: Portrait in Landscape Orientation (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3
Location: Huntington Canyon
Date: Oct 25, 2006
Aperture: 8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Persuasive, Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: Oct 26, 2006

A friend of mine, Lacie and I drove up the canyon to go snap a few pictures... I had the camera in the wrong proportion when I was taking this picture but I took it anyways cause It looked a bit cool in the viewfinder. Well, no semi's here at least. I didnt know much that I could do for editing here. Blur tool used here and there, de-saturated slightly.

Hey guys... thanks a lot for the comments. I feel pretty stupid for realizing I cropped her fingers out!!!. How did I not notice...? Ohhh well. My mistake...
I selected the wrong camera on the post...
It's taken with a Pentax *ist DS with the kit lens.

Don't know if you'll get dinged for smply turning a protrait to landscape, but it works for me. I like it alot. The colors are beautiful, the focus and DOF is excellent. My only complaint (and it's a maybe) is that her fingertips didn't survive the crop.
Good job.

EDIT - back to it at the finish line. In my top five. bumping

Wacky perspective here. I like it.

this is a great shot - looks like a senior photo or something along those lines. The exposure is top notch, as is the scenery and the way that the subject is framed. However, for this challenge, I would much rather see a shot somposed for the horizontal than a vertical shot turned sideways.
11/07/2006 05:49:43 AM
This is just BEGGING to be rotated... but i guess it wouldn't meet the challenge if you did.

Wow nice shot very original! 9

are they bashing you with the litteral meaning of this challenge? I'd bet so, but I hope not. This is an arresting image! Love it on lots of levels - 8 for now

hahaha...take a vertical shot, turn it around and...voila..theres your landscape oriented shot... that aside, I would have preffered the whole hand in the frame
11/05/2006 12:14:17 PM
Simple, yet so expressive. Excellent!
11/04/2006 01:42:38 PM
wow.

Interesting image I really like it, the hand at bottom being cut off is a litlle distracting though.
11/03/2006 01:11:54 PM
Great tilt! I like the blur of the background too...nice job with that. Only thing I would change is the border...just a tad too thick but nothing so bad it would change the score I'm leaving. 8

bit distracting angle

I had to look at this photo for a while before I could decide if I liked the rotation or not. I think it works really well having her face exactly upright in the image, playing tricks with my eyes. They yellow line leads nicely into the picture as well. Cool idea. I like it!

Nice DOF! Unique take on landscape & portrait! Great model! Creative! Great eye! In a phrase, Great job with Hurry-Up Photography! (I think she makes a much better "Seat Cover" than "Hood Ornament!") :}

different ..... i like it .....
11/02/2006 11:11:48 AM
Very nice photo I think. Can't keep my head tilted long enough to know for sure. :D Good luck in the challenge.

Fun except it really causes a dizzing affect. I like it though nice attention grab.
11/02/2006 02:18:57 AM
great perspective and a nice idea for this challenge
11/01/2006 10:14:43 AM
LOOK OUT! HERE COMES A ...Yeah, I can't quite get on my feet, here. And, I can't decide if she needs her fingertips or not, either. Anyway...OH, I'm all discombooberated! (7)
11/01/2006 09:51:56 AM
Dizzying.
11/01/2006 08:36:28 AM
Very original solution to the challenge. Like it :)
11/01/2006 08:00:19 AM
I think you realised your mistake (too late)
11/01/2006 07:04:09 AM
Nice try... But just rotating a portrait does not make it 'landscape'.
11/01/2006 06:08:23 AM
makes my stomach jump! nice
11/01/2006 06:05:40 AM
I really like the angle, makes it a much more interesting shot.
11/01/2006 02:44:42 AM
Cutest gal ive long saw!!!!
10/31/2006 11:49:06 PM
Great perspective!!
10/31/2006 09:00:45 PM
This certainl grabbed my attention! Interesting choice on perspective. Beautiful location. The only thing that bothers me is that her fingers are cropped out.
10/31/2006 08:06:50 PM
Strange. It is like a portrait in portrait frame, but actually in a landscape format. Works for me, it is a lovely photo.
10/31/2006 08:00:29 PM
DOF is great, creativity as well. But I don't like her fingers cropped. 7.
10/31/2006 07:47:32 PM
interesting take on the challenge - I like it - maybe a bit too much landscape and not enough portrait?
10/31/2006 07:46:09 PM
Maybe a smaller border. But either than that, awesome shot!
10/31/2006 07:18:01 PM
Interesting "twist" on the challenge...great exposure
10/31/2006 07:14:29 PM
wow, this is really neat. I haven't looked all the way through, but I think that this is in the running for a ribbon.
