please dont cut off limbs or hands, as my eye is led to the end of the line and out of the picture and not back into it.

Nice yellow background bokeh. Composition, technical quality, overall focus and lighting is fair. It would have been nicer if your main subject was a darker cooler color then the bokeh color. That would highlight the main subject better.

Ahhhhh... I see several issues in your image I faced in my bokeh trials. I can see the shape of your aperture baffles in the bokeh so know that you stopped down your lens. To get nice circles you have to shoot wide open.

Even stopped down you did not get enough depth of field to get woody totally in sharp focus. You may have intended it to be soft focused in the foreground but I don't think so. My guess is you were compromising aperture and DOF to get the best bokeh possible which forced a shallower DOF than you wanted. To get a totally sharp focus with nice circular bokeh for point light sources you need to have a flat main subject. That is how I overcame the DOF problem.

I would have not cropped off the hand on the left side, and a touch more dof so the feet would be in focus. Autumn colors in background are nice
