Challenge: Trains & Railroads (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Olympus C-765UZ
Location: Delray Beach, Florida
Date: Oct 19, 2006
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 64
Shutter: 3.2 secs
Galleries: Blur
Date Uploaded: Oct 20, 2006

This photo of people waiting beside the train tracks was shot at night with the light from the street reflecting on the tracks and overhead wires. A slight blur, from camera movement, is intended to convey the feeling of being on a moving train. The lights and glitter in the air on the left give the event a sense of celebration.

My first ribbon :)

I only gave this a 6 but I think I underestimated it. It's quite lovely, especially after reading your notes. :)

way out of focus and no real subject

Looks hand-held and, assuming that was the intention, the blurring is distracting. Not sure what you were going for. Had it been shot from a tripod, I think it would have been much stronger due to the good overall exposure and vividness of the greens, backlight on the tree and reflections off the rails.

Great shot of a lazy night on the tracts waiting for the next ride out of town

I'm assuming the title refers to the movement of the camera, but the camera doesn't line up with the tracks, so I'm confused.

Needs to be in focus.

more blur would have looked intentional.

Lacks composition and technique. Putting the camera on a post or on the ground would have bumped it up to at least a 4 for me. It is a 3 right now.

The out of focus is a bit much...

Wow. This has to be my favorite picture in this challenge. I mean, your use, I mean "mis-use" of composition, focus, light, and contrast is just amazing!!

Focus is the main issue here. In reference to content it may have been better if the train was closer to you. Not really sure if you could have pulled off a clear image.

Um... tripod? Why would you submit something that has that much camera shake?

I think the blur does not work on this one. Also there is too much heavy shadow in the foreground.

a blurry out of focus image is what you have here...sorry :-(
