I didn't get to say much about my photo the first time around -- I was submitting against the deadline. The weather on the weekend before wasn't that special, so I didn't even go downtown to see if I could get a shot. Tuesday the weather was great, so I left work early, rode my motorcycle the 25 miles to downtown, and started shooting. I had several locations in mind, and this was the last one. I think I stood there about an hour, shooting various shots as the sun set. At about 7:30, I deemed myself done, raced home, and quickly flipped through to pick one of the 200 or so shots I had taken. By the time I finished editing it, and a few others (see the out takes in the forum discussion My Urban Landscape Out takes, I only had about 5 minutes left to choose which I really wanted to post, post it, and give the description.
This was shot with no tripod, but not hand held either. I rested the camera on a hand rail. I rode my motorcycle downtown because I knew it would be easier to park, but that excluded me bringing my tripod. I was able to bring my lenses though, but for this shot, I used the old trusty Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS. |

Great Lights, excellent exposure, I know the horizon shouldnt be in the midlle, but maybe you should have lowered it a bit, little too much water in the forground-- still an 8 |

Nice, very clear shot. Maybe a little less water (though the reflection of the tall buildings does have a nice effect). |

Beautiful -- great exposure and reflections! I might have been tempted to zoom in a little closer and eliminate a little water, but it's still a 9 in my book :) |

Excellent color without the lights 'blown-out'. I love the reflection on the water - makes it like you are almost standing in the water looking at the city. |

Maybe San Diego will buy it as a postcard! Lovely to look at, and lots of space in the foreground to write San Diego. Otherwise I think I'd crop the foreground some. |

Great night shot, and wonderful composiition. You've managed to avoid blown out highlights and keep detail in the water surface which is very impressive. |

There are a lot of brightly lit night skylines in this challenge, but this one is a real grabber. |
