I think this should have done better than it did. Perhaps if some additional hue saturation had been applied to brighten the colors?

The overcast nature of the day unfortunately left you with a bit of a lack in contrast and sorta muddy colors. The angle you chose, though, adds interest and the composition is fairly well balanced.
