 smudged the background because I didn't like what was there. I'm not sure I like the smudged look either...

I agree that the background takes away from the flower. The bud is a little too soft for my taste but it is beautiful with all the raindrops.

I too agree that the flower itself could be a little sharper and that the white spots could be cloned out.

The background looks a bit fakey as it is. The wet poppy is nice though.

I think the rosebud could be a bit sharper, the background doesn't bother me, but it doesn't wow me either.

i'd have to see the original to really compare, but i don't much care for the background as is... maybe you could clone out the white parts?

the flower itself is rather nice, though...

I'll dissent and say I like the background, the pattern and flow complement the curves and shape of the flower. :)

The background is pretty interesting, but it draws too much attention away from the flower.
