 I left home at 4.45 to get up to Lake Chuzenji (not sure exactly, 1250m above sea level?). This isn't a clever picture, not much WOW factor, and there are at least 735 dpcers who could make a better job in Photoshop than I can. But EXIF says it was taken at 6.01.07 a.m. ;>รพ

But here it is, and maybe it shouldn't be - it's just another entry for the sake of entering.

There were quite a few people driving about already, to beat the crowds like I did (and become part of it). A fine day, and thousands of people came to view the autumn colours. In fact, when I was heading home at 10.30ish, the traffic coming up was reeeeeally slow (and there were a whole lot of fisherman floating around this part of the lake in dinghies (or skiffs)).

Very peaceful location - but I am of the opinion that there is an over-use of editing techniques.

This scene has possibilities but has no focus. The bit of bush in the lower left corner is too small and uninteresting. I think it would be improved by cropping off most of the water below the boat docks and increasing the contrast a little.

I think this could use a little more vividness- try a USM at a high radius (250) and low amount (maybe 10-30) and see how that goes. or you could try one of my faves- a levels layer (don't adjust anything!) and just set it to overlay. you'll have to reduce the opacity to around 35% but play with it. It's a great image to start with for sure :0)

A little too much texture between the whispy clouds and the rippled water for my taste. Great composition and blue colors.
