That's a beautiful leaf. While quite a dynamic shot, I think it could have been enhanced by cropping at the top apex of the leaf and the bottom left outcrop. This would increase the dynamism creating some negative space and 'confusing' the eye - could it be a flame - a strange white profile overlayed, etc.
Try it - it works for me just using my hands to mask portions of the bottom and right. Nice lighting and colour, although you could afford to slightly increase saturation - again to enhance what is already there. |

Very nice. I like how the thin border is in proportion to the veins on the leaf. Interesting visuals created by the negative space. 9 |

What a perfect leaf! And the cropping is well done except and this is nitpicky, the lower left point of the leaf looks like it got cut off. I know, I know, I'm sorry but the line on the leaf keeps drawing me there and with the others cropped so perfectly it just kinda jumps at me. I love the stark background really brings out the color of the leaf. I'm starting this at an 8 and I'll be back to see if that little point still gets to me or not.
Okay, I'm back and now that I look again, it's not really cut off at all, it's cropped really, really close! :) Raising this to a 10! |

This is beautiful. The simplicity of the leaf against the white background and the complexity of the veins in the leaf make it an awesome shot. |

At a time when the world is flooded with photos of whole forests in fall colors, the detail of a single leaf is a refreshing change - especially when it is this well lit and composed. I think a darker gray in the background would allevieate the amount of blank space at the top left. |

Beautiful leaf shot. The white background makes it jump out. I also think I understand the exposed aspect: the red color is exposed now that the chlorophyll has degraded. I also like that you shot this off center as well. Nicely done. |

The composition feels a bit tight since the edges of the leaf are touching the top, left, and bottom edges of the frame... |

Great composition and side lighting, that reveals the texture very well. |

This gets a 10 from me! The simple elegance of this shot is wonderful. The negative space really caught my attention, then the pattern of the veins in the leaf compliment the shape of the leaf nicely. Well done!
