 This is a different edit of the shot I entered in the Best of 2006 challenge:
. I couldn't drop the silhouette to black there, but I really prefer it that way, esp. for a print.

Throughout the trip, we were looking for "hero" shots. This was one of the first. Andrew's looking across Val Ferret at Les Grands Jorasses.

I deliberately took multiple shots with him properly exposed vs. the mountain, intending to join them in post processing. But when I did, it ended up creating low contrast between Andrew and the rock he's on and the big mountains behind. Went with the total silhouette instead.

I like both versions of this shot. I like the other one because it looks more realistic. But I like this one because it looks like the hiker is looking out at the mountains rather than at the camera. Either way it's awesome.
