Nice to read the explanation and I would have given a little more than my 5 vote had I spent more time mulling it over.

In the context of DPC, i guess i'm suprised this pic scored where it did. I realize flag=low vote for many people but technically the picture is spot on. And even though the idea behind the photo is not clear to me, it's still quirky and also artistic. It also meets the challenge in an obvious way.

I remain confused about this one.

what is the significance of the card? Embarrassed to be American?

Cool idea! The hat acts as a distraction to me more than a beneficial element to the image as it sticks out from the sides of the gray card. Nonetheless, a job well done. 8o)

I interpret this as saying that wrapping yourself in the flag threatens your individuality. By becoming a "fan" of the state, you risk becoming just a cog in the machine, symbolized by a gray square that replaces your face. Am I close? 7

The light on the flag and person is excellent. I do wish the paper/board in front of the face was either a different color or had more to it - texture, a picture, more translucent - as it stands it's kind of jarring. Then again, that could be what you're after, too!

I don't know. Doesn't feel right, like it's not really meeting the spirit of the challenge with that cardboard just sitting out there like that. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

something other than a gray card that went with the partriotic theme would have been better
