Challenge: High Contrast II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D2X

Location: Sharon Springs, NY

Aperture: f/2.8

Shutter: 1/125
Date Uploaded: Oct 3, 2006

Shot in Sharon Springs in NY, a once-bustling sulphur-water spa town that is now half-abondoned. One of the most interesting places places I've ever seen. Well worth it if you're in the area, IMHO.

This was the window in a little house that was completely falling apart right on the side of the road (and next to a waterfall and an abandoned grand hotel!)...someone put a flower and a curtain on the window, making for a very interesting scene.

PP:
Straightened
Slight crop
Levels
Curves
Added border
Saved for web

I know that this isn't contrast in the most typical sense, but aside from the colors (which I thought created a very nice contrast), you also have the contrast of the new flowers and curtains opposite the rest, which is old and falling apart.

definitely get rid of the border you put on this image. without it you'd have a gorgeous image with no distractions on the edges

Your shot is great. If only you'd left out the frame...

Love this shot. I would only of liked this better without the added frame. It's over kill and a distraction. (in my opinion) Great find.

The line around the perimeter very distracting. It's a good shot otherwise.

The bizarre lines that's drawn around this is disturbing - reminds me of the road makeings before the chaos of street-work, or of a gun sight, or something.

I like the 1 to 255 title. original. how would this work as a B&W?

I think this is pretty, the color of the wall just jumps right out. I'm not a fan of the border however.
