Challenge: High Contrast II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Location: Studio
Date: Oct 2, 2006
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/80
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Oct 2, 2006

Shot using halogen worklamps and a black fabric backdrop. A bit of experimentation to get the correct exposure. Although the lens goes to f1.8 the focus is so critical that I prefer to use f2.8 or f4.

Processing: Channel mixer to B+W, then levels and curves adjustment layers.

This is a shot I've been wanting to set up for a long time... inspired by an album cover.

I'm not sure I make a particularly good model however :-( and I am not too happy with the shirt, in hindsight it's a little over exposed.

Excellent portrait and interesting composition with the black suit and background, leaving the long white shirt almost like a tie.
