I like the strong diagonal of the way you framed this. |

there must be something here that you want me to see, but that I'm missing. is it the fuzz on the plant? I really have no idea. But it's a nice shot anyways, so no worries, and I think it fits the challenge just fine. I like the pull focusing to make the background blurred. I also like the colors in the background. the composition is nice too. I would suggest using a slightly larger dof, though, so you can get the whole plant in focus. |

Though I understand that grass like this grows, lives and then dies, looking at the shot doesn't say OLD to me. Although I can link it to the challenge with explanations, if I were to show the shot to someone who didn't know what the challenge was, I don't think they'd come up with OLD at all. Sorry. |

Nice framing, shame about the lack of fucus. |

DoF is too narrow for my taste. And what am I supposed to be seeing? I'm afraid I dont see it. |

this is a great photo... if the entire 'grain bud' was in focus, it would really punch.. just a bit more depth of field and you would nail this one :) - jmsetzler |

ok, so i've looked again. i think i still don't get it. it's a hanging down branch or some kind of oat/wheat, etc. it's brown, so potentially old. hm. the background is a little busy for my liking but i understand that you can't always control that. i like that it's nicely out of focus. -- gr8photos (4) |

Two changes I would make - deeper field, and more color saturation/contrast. Good subject choice. |

Were you attempting to draw my attention to the seed pod in the lower left? There is "extra" light there and the focus seems to be on that area most strongly. I would have preferred a wider focal range to include all of the grass. The title confuses me, sounds a little desparate.....6 Swash |

This does not say "Something Old" to me, however, I really like the shot! lhall |

Something seems to be missing from the subject. Is it part of a larger field? What's in the background? |

I like the depth field on this, and the clarity of the subject in front. karmat |

I looked again, as the title requested...and then again...and then yet again. Am I missing something? |

I've looked three times and I am still in the dark. I suppose in plant life it is old, but not compared to a big redwood tree. On the technical side you did a good job on the DOF but a large portion of the main subject is out of focus. In my opinion, Autool |

This is very striking... I like the composition. The way the end of the branch is blurred works in drawing my eyes back up to the sharper part, but I'm not sure if it's effective overall. |

Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject. Composition - quite good Technical Aspects - good. I would have preferred that the whole stalk was in focus Meets Challenge - sort of Visual Impact / Originality - good/high

old isn't my first thought. or my second, but i like the colors. the DOF is almost too shallow |

Where is the --something old --part? The foreground focus is great but the background is really cluttered. |

the image is distracting due to lack of focus across the entire subject, and does not meet challenge well, imo. ~mcmurma Aesthetics...4 Meets Challenge...3 Overall...4 |
