 Took the picture in my backyard after it rained. I have been dying to play with my canon 500D closeup filter that I had bought for my Minolta 35mm camera a few years ago and never used. Figured this was a good opportunity to use it on my Olympus E-500 Evolt. The post processing steps are as follows:

I like the shot but not sure if the lighting is good enough. I shot this in the morning.

Critique Club Review:

Focus and depth of field are very well done. Nice job isolating the leaf from any background clutter.

Color saturation and hue are good. Brighness and contrast are good, though the bright highlight in the large drop is un-naturally bright and is burned out and featureless.

I like the soft hints of grass in the background. Perhaps just a little more there, not much, just a very little.

Overall a very good picture that should have scored a bit higher.

Good finish! Should have finished higher in my opinion, but my taste isn't agreeing with the winners of challenges lately. :) Such a great image!

I've come to the conclusion that waterdrops have to be placed at stragetic places to have impact. The best place is at the tip of whatever is holding the drop. In this case, the tip of the blade of grass.
Now let's look at the composition. The subject has been isolated as much as possible which is good. But is all the background needed? What impression does the piece of cut grass give to the viewer? And that brown piece behind the subject? Would tilting the camera help? If the blade of grass would have a upwards or downwards tilt would it be more dynamic?

Great focus on the water drop. It seems intensified and the light within the drop draws me in. Really good work!
