Greetingds from the Critique Club
OK. Great photo, underrated... why?
Well... voters can be a fickle bunch, this is a nice shot, the negative space works well and the lighting is good. OK, so it's just a shot of a guy in a Purple shirt, but it works as a composition and is overall interesting to the viewer....
Cropping the top so close to (on) the guys head was a mistake IMO. He needs a little more space above him...
The sock is not distracting, in fact it helps the composition in my opinion.
Voters will often mark down a shot if it is not classically well composed, which hit your score.. some monitors are also darker than others which can cause negative scores if the shot appears dark.. (It Looks perfect on my PC and MAC BTW)
Overall, nice work, I like it and a lot of voters did also.. perhaps it needs a little more of a story.. i.e. have him wear a color sock that clashed.. and leave the viewer to decide why he has done it...

It's a good shot but it is just some geezer in a purple shirt in a studio. I gave it a six. The sock is not distracting thats just ridiculous and on the critique list of 'photographers who have to keep to rules' I think somewhere under rule of thirds. Do your own thing and dont worry about the numbers!
Good luck!

I llike the expression and the idea. The simplicity is great. The top of the frame just resting on his head has an odd yet not completely unintentional feel to it. |

This was a tough call between 6 and 7. I liked the shirt, the pose, the background. Two elements are iffy with me.
I would have liked to see a bit more clearance above the head. (There is plenty of room in front of the feet.)
And that blasted white sock...what is up with that? |

Nice. More head space on the top would be perfect. |
